We set up a Community Liaison Panel for SITA (UK) earlier this year, allowing local residents to voice their concerns with plans for development of a recycling centre in their village. This involved recruiting key community members from the area affected by the development, researching their specific concerns and reporting back to the company, and chairing the first meeting of the panel to ensure that both sides gained the information they needed. The panel's input to the consultation was a key factor in developing the final planning application, which has now going through the planning approval process.

We are now working with two further businesses who are consulting with local communities about plans for "energy from waste" facilities, again setting up Community Liaison Panels to ensure that local can have a say in the plans and receive accurate and trustworthy information.

We are also running an Information Group with close neighbours of a development where planning approval has been given to ensure that they are kept up to date with progress on the project and that proper consideration is given to their concerns.

We have continued to work with the Malling Action Partnership (MAP) in West Malling on their Market Town Action Plan and bid for funding for their priority project to encourage people to visit the town, the Farmers Markets and participate in the events programme for all ages.
